As a real estate agent, I help people find homes every day. But there are many who don’t have a home—especially the countless abandoned dogs and animals in need of care. That’s why I’ve partnered with Sitges Angels, a local animal shelter run by the incredible Anje, a woman whose heart is as big as her mission.

The Reality of Animal Abandonment in Spain

In 2023, animal shelters in Spain took in approximately 286,000 abandoned pets, including 170,712 dogs and 115,970 cats. This figure has remained relatively stable over the past decade, highlighting the persistent nature of the problem.

However, there is hope on the horizon. The recent implementation of comprehensive animal welfare laws aims to address this issue more effectively. These laws focus on promoting responsible pet ownership, increasing penalties for abandonment, and enhancing the overall protection of animals.

Anje, a compassionate and dedicated woman, has been tirelessly rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in the area.
